This morning

Early Spring

A few days ago
I did a post about the Butterfly garden back on April 25th and promised I'd show you again in a couple of months, so here 'tis.

Butterfly Garden

So boring, right? Remember this picture a couple of months from now when I show it in bloom again, bigger and better than last year. Or you can go ahead and imagine it: hibiscus, coreopsis 'moonbeam', Helen's flower, poppies, astible, Jupiter's beard, blue lobelia, Vermeer lilies, day lilies and so on. I'm stoked!

Butterfly Gardening

Tiger swallowtail on Jupiter's Beard. That's another perennial grown from seed. Badass.

Monarchs Feeding

On Zinnia

On Buddleia

I wish I had gotten a better picture of the whole scene. The garden was big and winding and there were just clouds of butterflies hovering above it all. It was kinda magical.

This Place Was Gorgeous

They paired annuals with perennials and had some great color combos. The center of this garden was odd, though. You can sorta see in the pic that it's just sand and what appears to be the foundation of a once or future building. But the beds around the edges were massive and clouds of butterflies were all over the place. Also clouds of gnats- there was no breeze that day. That ornamental grass in the (front center) is millet. I scored some seeds for next year.

We Toured Some Garden Centers-

Wee butterfly or moth on cockscomb.
