Monster Birdwatching

I know it's spring, but this Monster shot was too cute to leave out. He was actually wagging his tail back and forth very slowly as if the chickadees delight him too: "Oh hai! You has a cute!"

Unsafe At Any Speed??

The seller seemed to think that this sled has a 90 lb weight limit. The mister and I aren't large people, but we sure aren't that small. We'll Ralph Nader this baby come winter and let you know the results. Mister has been cutting a sledding trail into the woods.

Post Mortem

No one died. Winter just makes me feel dead. Out of concern for my welfare, the mister took me sledding today. It's been YEARS since I experienced winter as "fun". Today was hella fun and we didn't break any bones and Suicide Hill of Childhood Fame still reigns supreme. So cool to have the golf course and said hill all to ourselves, and the hill was pre-primed/ slickened by hoardes of previous sledders. Good bumps n jumps, good air to be had. On the way back to the car, we took turns spinning each other on our slick sleds.

After that, we swung by the park to check out Devil's Hill. It was overused and bare of snow, as usual. The ice on the pond was looking good though, so next weekend's quest might be for good skates. Or we might go to the Guggenheim. If that pans out, I say we need to start at the top- with rollerskates.

Speaking of rollerskates, I watched Boogie Nights last night while my mister was making Alpaca music. Now that's a fine film, and I don't mean because it's porn.

And oh hay, for my dog friends, there was a lovely Newf in the park :)

Coloring Is Good

The mister and I printed up some giant mandalas and then colored them- the one hanging on the door was done in good old-fangled Crayolas, the one in progress on the floor was done with Windsor & Newton watercolors. The coolest part was getting up the next morning. The one on the door looked like stained glass with the sun shining through it. The one on the floor turned out to be our favorite and hangs here in the office just to my right.
We've both been under the mistaken impression that we did these in the dead of winter last year. Turns out we did them in late May and early June over a series of weekends. I guess that makes sense- maybe the creative juices start flowing along with sap. Dunno, but it was fun and hopefully we'll come up with another joint project to get us through this winter. WHICH I'M HATING. Oh sorry. Did I yell? I yelled. I'm trying to be a good sport. Honest.

Sunny Day, Sweepin' the Clouds Away...

... on my way to where it's probably cloudy. It's gorgeous here today- cold, but REALLY sunny at long last. I was beginning to think I live in a snow globe. But I'm leaving in about five minutes to go a-visiting. It's only about three hours from here, but notoriously cloudy- almost as cloudy as Syracuse, NY, the Cloud Capital of the entire USA. I'll be back in a couple of days. Mebbe my mister will post while I'm gone. He got some new fish...

RushRushRush!

Our party is tonight... the wreaths aren't made, the driveway isn't plowed, the food shopping isn't done, the drink station isn't set up, and on and on. But ya know what? My mister is getting home early, Dad is coming to help and it's all gonna come together. Besides, the Christmas cactus looks lovely!
We're having Winter House to celebrate the season. It just so happens that it coincides with the Winter Solstice- 1:08 am EST, so I reckon we'll be having a bonfire in addition to slot car racing in the kitchen and a wreath-making station in the bathroom!

Look What I Found!

My dad gave me a stack of Christmas cards. Needless to say, we're keeping this one for ourselves!
PS: Those paperwhites are still available!
