Hound's Hall - Chapter 2

The Right Reverend returns to tell the chilling second chapter of his semi-fictionalized serial. Another guest blog from His Most Holy Redeemer of the Outhouse, The Saintly Prefect of Perfect, Missionary to Savages and Strangers, Esteemed Righteous Counsel to Kings, Popes and Pornographers, Apostle of Coffee and Bacon. Ladies and gentlemen, once again we present the Scion of Speed, The Rt. Rvd.

We return to Hounds Hall at the request of the village constable, Sgt. Edwin Horsedong, longtime keeper of the peace of the quaint village of R_.

Sgt. Horsedong has been summoned to the Brainsworth residence, a small cottage in somewhat scruffy condition.
"Goodmorning, Mrs Brainsworth. Such a fine day, wouldn't you say? Why, through that rather large opening in your roof, I can see the ravens pirched on the ridge, most likely sunning themselves."
" Yes, yes Edwin. It tis a fine day. Someday I'll repair the roof........But I've grown fond the ravens and enjoy talking to them from kitchen table. They seemed to appear soon after Linda went missing"
" Missing ?, Mrs Brainsworth.
" I've summoned you, hoping you might locate her.....been gone for few days now."
Linda, being a little on the slow side, has walked off many times. Last time, she was found behind the chickenhouse, only a short stroll and within sight of her cottage.
"Have you looked about? Mrs Brainsworth. Possibility behind the coup.....or down the well. You know how she always falls in."
"No, I haven't the time. What with conversing with the ravens and such. Busy, busy, don't you know.
"Have you checked up at the Speckellhead farm. It is breeding time for his mares, and you know how Linda enjoys watching."
" Yes, she does have an odd attraction for such events. But she's never been gone so LONG, Mrs Brainsworth mumbled. " As you well know, the Speckellhead farm is only a short walk past Hounds Hall. I think she's become another victim of that evil place."
" What with all the recent activity at the Hall, you may be quite right." I will inspect Hounds Hall as soon as night falls"
" Thats odd.....the ravens have flown off," quipped Horsedong.
Will Linda, the village idiot, be found safe and sound at the Speckellhead farm? Has she jumped into the well, again? Or has something more sin-nister taken place.
Right..........Be sure to lock your doors.......nighty nite

Hound's Hall - Chapter 1

Legend has it that on one particularly gloomy night, The Right Reverend tripped over the dog and fell down the stairs. Following is another guest blog from His Most Holiest on High. Ladies and gentleman, we present chapter one of Hound's Hall, a retelling of the actual events as they happened, by The Right Reverend.

High upon a bluff, overlooking the quaint village of R_ , rests a manor house, "Hounds Hall". Tragedy seems to follow many of the masters of Hounds Hall.

It seems, the stately stairway, leading to the lavish sleeping quarters, has been the focial point of numerious "accidents", claiming many victims. The twisted and contorted bodies of these unlucky souls, found at the bottommost landing, always had a look of disbelief and horror. The bloody footprints of the masters beloved hound were always present.

The stairs, built to the Queens code of standards, have been inspected by the local authorities and found to be in good working condition. Capitan William Slipalot, village code enforcement officer states, "I have inspected the said stairs and have found nothing to be out of the ordnary. But, I will not step foot in the Hall after dark. I have heard the stories, you know. Better to be safe than sorry"

It seems, late a night, villagers have heard sounds in the great Hall. Many towns folk will not pass the stately Hall at night, for fear of hearing the cries for help and seeing the rivers of blood slowly making its way down the long winding carriage path, past the ornate well house, and on to highway.

"The evil laughter from the hounds, deep inside the Hall, really makes my potmarked skin crawl," states Linda, the town idiot. Many of the towns folk have heard the laughter of the hounds, but only Egbert, the town hangman and gravedigger have seen the laughing dogs.

"One night, I peeked into the masters library window and saw..........the hounds playing some sort of card game, drinking fine brandy, and some were even smoking. They were barking and howling like a bunch of school girls. You know...like they do at the convent when Father Buttfugger has those dreams about the alterboys."

So.......I will leave you to ponder the story of Hounds hall...........Until next time..Sleep tight
