Swallow Hill Flower Farm

The ad I found for this farm said, "Daylilies in Bloom!" so you know we had to go. The couple that owns Swallow Hill retired 11 years ago from truly regular jobs and then started this flower farm. They said they'd always had a big garden but never sold anything until they started their retirement farm. They've got about 300 varieties of daylilies, shade and alpine gardens and lots of other sun perennials. Such a beautiful place and such a beautiful way to live and earn. Every time we come across a place like this, it lets me know that our dreams ARE possible. They're open and out there with shovels seven days a week, but only for 15 weeks out of the year. Needless to say, we left with a back seat full of new plants and big smiles on our faces, then spent the evening digging new homes for all of them. It was super humid out and heavy work, but so worth it. The lily in the pic is called Red Suspenders.
