Another Bed

Weeded, edged, seeded. Less lawn, more flowers! I think race cars would look good on the edge.

Again, this doesn't look like much

Some scraggly looking plants, the beginning of yet another perennial bed. Flower gardening takes imagination (lots) and patience (extreme levels sometimes). So look at this scraggly mess and picture it filled with this and this and this and this and ... See where this is going?

Acanthus

So I'm wandering through the nursery, and the owner hollers across to me, "I know what YOU want." I wasn't even sure he was talking to me, but he was, and I wondered how the hell he could know since I've only been there a few times. Apparently, he did remember that I like the weird stuff, because he had me follow him at breakneck speed (he's constantly zipping around) to show me one of these in bloom in the front garden. And he was right- I do want one. Even if the only one I can have is 6" tall and won't bloom for at least two years- that's all he had potted up. Grown up, it'll be around 4 feet tall!
