Vermeer Lilies

We put 60 new ones in this year- 45 by the stream and 15 in the back just above the stone wall. The blooms didn't last as long as I'd hoped- too much heat maybe- but they were really stunning! Pix were taken just a little too late in the day. As you can see in the top pic, the slugs are having a banner year with all this rain. AND someone told me yesterday that this is the coolest July on record. Blech. I want more REAL summer.

Ah, Summer!

The Rain Stopped Yesterday

The sun is out, it's warm, the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming. It feels like summer. That's all. What more could you ask for?

Romping lion cubs you say? You could ask for those. And I will give them to you! (Just kidding. Do not email requests for lion cubs. I grow flowers, not lions).

Sigh. I was flipping through pix trying to decide what to blog about today and got as far as June of 2007.

Fresh strawberries, Johnny-Jump-Ups, trees in full leaf, our friends' pool...

It's way warmer than average today, but dang I miss summer!
