Hound's Hall - Chapter 2

The Right Reverend returns to tell the chilling second chapter of his semi-fictionalized serial. Another guest blog from His Most Holy Redeemer of the Outhouse, The Saintly Prefect of Perfect, Missionary to Savages and Strangers, Esteemed Righteous Counsel to Kings, Popes and Pornographers, Apostle of Coffee and Bacon. Ladies and gentlemen, once again we present the Scion of Speed, The Rt. Rvd.

We return to Hounds Hall at the request of the village constable, Sgt. Edwin Horsedong, longtime keeper of the peace of the quaint village of R_.

Sgt. Horsedong has been summoned to the Brainsworth residence, a small cottage in somewhat scruffy condition.
"Goodmorning, Mrs Brainsworth. Such a fine day, wouldn't you say? Why, through that rather large opening in your roof, I can see the ravens pirched on the ridge, most likely sunning themselves."
" Yes, yes Edwin. It tis a fine day. Someday I'll repair the roof........But I've grown fond the ravens and enjoy talking to them from kitchen table. They seemed to appear soon after Linda went missing"
" Missing ?, Mrs Brainsworth.
" I've summoned you, hoping you might locate her.....been gone for few days now."
Linda, being a little on the slow side, has walked off many times. Last time, she was found behind the chickenhouse, only a short stroll and within sight of her cottage.
"Have you looked about? Mrs Brainsworth. Possibility behind the coup.....or down the well. You know how she always falls in."
"No, I haven't the time. What with conversing with the ravens and such. Busy, busy, don't you know.
"Have you checked up at the Speckellhead farm. It is breeding time for his mares, and you know how Linda enjoys watching."
" Yes, she does have an odd attraction for such events. But she's never been gone so LONG, Mrs Brainsworth mumbled. " As you well know, the Speckellhead farm is only a short walk past Hounds Hall. I think she's become another victim of that evil place."
" What with all the recent activity at the Hall, you may be quite right." I will inspect Hounds Hall as soon as night falls"
" Thats odd.....the ravens have flown off," quipped Horsedong.
Will Linda, the village idiot, be found safe and sound at the Speckellhead farm? Has she jumped into the well, again? Or has something more sin-nister taken place.
Right..........Be sure to lock your doors.......nighty nite
