But so did Joseph Stephen Kimani Nganga Maruge. He was 89 years old. When he was 85 years old, "Maruge went to New York in 2005 to promote a global campaign to get more children into schools." Not only did he learn to read as a very old man (as soon as primary school became free in Kenya), he travelled all the way from Kenya to America to promote the cause. Anyone that takes such a journey so late in life is pretty cool in my book. And brave. Perhaps he will be immortalized in song. Locally. You never know.

Sounds like a very cool guy, and a reminder to us all that it is never too late to learn, and to enrich your life.
